The other day, after I had written about 'Life and a house facing a T-junction, a friend came along and commented on what I had said about the possibility of a vehicle crashing into the house. She said that it has happened. It did happen to one of her relatives.
Apparently, this relative of hers found a vehicle which had crashed through the gate into her porch and part of the front wall. The driver must have lost control of the vehicle.
However, the difference is that her relative's house was not exactly in line with the road it faced. The house was on the right hand side of the house facing the T-junction.
What could I say? Perhaps, the stars were bright at the time for the occupants of the house facing the junction. Their lucky stars deflected the bad luck and her relative's house happened to be in the way.
However, on second thought, I would like to ask why anyone would place themselves near a danger spot? If you were to know that a killer is aiming for a guy, you would certainly not want to stand beside or even near that guy for the bullet may not find its intended mark, go astray and hit you instead. Well, the logical move would be to distance yourself from the target.
Similarly, realising that there is always that is great possibility of a car hurtling towards you, be it facing directly a T-junction or diagonally to it, it is common sense to as far as possible to avoid living in such a house.
Unless, of course, you are as lucky as this friend of mine who has lived directly facing the T-junction for more than thirty years without a chance of such excitement of being rudely shaken by a trespassing vehicle. Furthermore, the guy smilingly told me that his house cost him less than what the neighbours paid for. That's the benfit of buying a house at a T-junction.
